HTML5 represents the next generation of technologies available to web designers and developers and provides us with a far richer development environment that brings on-line systems closer to what has traditionally only been available for desktop development. Although HTML5 was launched in 2009 (and in fact not due to be complete until 2014 and as such some browsers have been slow to adapt all elements.
HTML5 is packed with features and include:-
- Offline storage
- Realtime communication
- Access to file and hardware structures
- Semantics and markup
- Enhanced graphics and multimedia capabilities
- Latest version of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS3)
There is a great presentation that showcases most of these and provides a little more explanation, although some of it is directed to developers, it gives you an idea of just what is possible these days!
Our latest on-line applications and websites are now developed using HTML5 / CSS3, so if you would like to know what is possible get in touch!
